We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate/Junior Sustainability Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in sustainable building design, working closely with experienced engineers across a range of exciting projects.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration & Support
Work under the guidance of Senior Sustainability Engineers and the Project Director.
Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to gather input data for environmental performance modelling and sustainability assessments.
Support the delivery of building performance calculations including:
SAP 2012/SAP 10 using Elmhurst software
SBEM/BRUKL and EPCs (with training towards Level 5 DSM)
TM52, TM59 and BB101 compliance assessments
Climate-Based Daylight Modelling (CBDM)
Thermal bridging and heat loss/gain calculations
Technical Learning & Development
Gain proficiency in thermal modelling software such as IES VE.
Develop an understanding of UK sustainability standards and regulations including Part L, BREEAM, TM59, and other CIBSE/BSRIA guidance documents.
Assist with preparing technical reports and verifying model outputs.
Participate in QA processes, including reviewing your work and supporting senior staff in report reviews.
Project Involvement
Support multiple live projects, helping to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
Attend team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Contribute to sustainable design reviews and help identify opportunities for improving energy and environmental performance.
About You
A degree in Building Services Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
A strong interest in sustainability, building performance, and low-carbon design.
Familiarity with building regulations and sustainability frameworks (e.g., BREEAM) is desirable.
Good organisational and communication skills, with a willingness to learn from peers and mentors.
IT literate with some experience or willingness to learn AutoCAD, IES VE, Elmhurst software, and Microsoft Office tools.
Working towards or interested in achieving CIBSE or similar professional accreditation.
