The Role

The Contracts Manager is an integral part of the management structure here at Landscape Services, responsible for overseeing both the services delivered for our customers, and the wellbeing and requirements of our staff. They are expected to organise and oversee the programmed maintenance of all the works within their geographical area, in this case Tonbridge and Malling Borough, Kent.

The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscaping operations, as well as their local area. The successful applicant will have a minimum of five years industry\xe2\x80\x99 experience. They will be an extremely organised and resourceful person with prior experience in managing multi-sited teams and be able to instruct and organise staff through proactive planning of routes and rounds, whilst ensuring resource, material and contract requirements are met.

A clear and demonstrable knowledge of health and safety, risk assessment and safe working practices is essential for this role. A current, clean driving license and full DBS check (provided by the Company) is required.

Key Duties

  • Organising and managing all teams within your geographical area daily, ensuring they are following all specific routes and rounds
  • Preparing monthly management reports plus attending customer and site meetings
  • Price and supply quotations for ad-hoc works
  • Liaising with the client regularly and resolve any concerns, difficulties, or issues, and recording progress on our CRM system
  • Planning and programming work schedules via COMMS 360, as well as leading the way with all digital processes and software, providing support and guidance to the teams
  • Leading and developing the staff - including workloads, productivity, and general performance management to ensure delivery against agreed KPIs. Arranging training and development opportunities for staff
  • Conducting regular team meetings and 121s, and ensuring site monitoring information is used as a tool to make positive change and improvement. Attending and preparing for regular toolbox talks with staff
  • Implementing and managing all company H&S policies and procedures
  • Ensuring safe working practices are maintained and that any risks or unsafe practices are mitigated in order to minimise potential for injury/accident. Reporting on incidents and near misses. Maintaining all health and safety documents and records
  • Ensuring chemical usage complies with current legislation
  • Planning, organising and supervising all equipment, staff and materials to avoid wastage and ensure compliance with required standards
  • Acting as support and deputy for the Operations Manager as required
What we need from you
  • GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • PA1/PA6A is desirable but not essential
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • Formal HSEQ qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Level 3 qualification) is desirable but not essential
  • Competence in use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of all aspects of grounds maintenance and soft landscaping
  • Understanding and ability to interpret specifications, plans, quotations and customer requests
  • Resource scheduling and logistics
  • Knowledge of pricing works
  • Knowledge of tree management
  • Strong leadership ability with clear supervisory skills
  • Good communication, numeracy and organisational skills
  • Problem solving ability and well organised in time management, prioritising and service delivery
  • Self managed and able to schedule and prioritise own workload
  • Delivery focused, organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and hit targets
  • Ability to analyse problems and issues, spot trends and opportunities
