Groundworks Supervisor

J Reddington Ltd are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Groundworks Supervisor for an initial project in Vauxhall. Based in London, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of groundworks operations on-site, with a particular focus on basement construction. This role is essential to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise groundworks teams and subcontractors on-site. Manage excavation, drainage, foundations, basement construction, kerbing, and concrete works. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and site-specific RAMS. Interpret technical drawings and specifications to guide site activities. Liaise with engineers, site managers, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow. Monitor site progress, quality, and productivity, reporting to senior management. Conduct toolbox talks and site inductions. Maintain accurate records including daily diaries, material usage, and labour hours.

Requirements

Essential

Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within groundworks or civil engineering. Demonstrable experience in basement construction, including underpinning, waterproofing, and structural sequencing. Strong knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations. CSCS Supervisor card (Gold or above). SSSTS or SMSTS certification. First Aid at Work qualification. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction or Civil Engineering. Experience working on residential or commercial developments in London. Familiarity with temporary works and traffic management.

Salary & Hours

10 hours a day Monday to Friday Weekend work & overtime offered when required Long term work Rate negotiable depending on experience NO agency involvement NO umbrella company involvement
