About the role



To lead, develop and strengthen the Group Controller activities, including treasury function, to provide early insight to the short term, medium and long term cashflow and liquidity of the business, while ensuring that the internal and external reporting of the company is delivered to the highest standards. Strong member of the finance organisation and a foundational business partner to the group CFO. The Group Controller supervises the management accounting, statutory reporting, treasury and tax activities.

What will you do?



Maintain and improve the visibility on ST, MT and LT cash needs and resources and improve the liquidity if the Group. Responsible for the weekly update of the ST treasury forecast (16 weeks) and regularly reporting to HSBC, to meet the loan reporting requirements. Preparation of the LT and ST cashflow forecast based on a model combining ST BS unwinding and longer-term forecast. Supervises the management accounting team, providing technical support and ensuring that the checks and reconciliations are effective. Runs the group consolidation process. Regularly reviews and documents balance sheet accounts. Enhances the documentation of financial control processes and accounting policies in the Maintel accounting manual. Provides the accounting and tax technical expertise to the team and supervises the work of external tax advisors. Preparation of the goodwill impairment test at year end. Filling of statutory reports and returns, including VAT, tax returns, R&D tax credit claims. Preparation of the going concern note for the auditors. Drives the full year processes and the production of the year-end report, and statutory accounts and provides the draft narratives to the financial sections of the year end front and drives the production of the notes to the financial statements of the interim and annual report.

What are we looking for?



Comfortable with change and actively drives process improvements. Ability to rapidly assimilate into new roles and responsibilities with minimal guidance. Skilled in pulling, consolidating, and interpreting data from multiple sources to support decision-making. Demonstrates agility in dynamic environments and adjusts effectively to shifting priorities. Recognises the impact of inaccurate information on decision-making and prioritises data integrity. Proficient in producing accurate and timely statutory reports, as well as cashflow, liquidity, and loan covenant reporting. Competent in tracking financial liquidity and performing ongoing loan covenant compliance testing. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and confidently. Demonstrates a hard-working, dynamic, and adaptable approach to challenges in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in creating clear, compelling presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel

Essential



Qualified Accountant with current technical knowledge or strong academic background in finance or accounting. Considerable experience in a similar role, in a publicly listed company. Strong accounting skills, with a strong knowledge of IFRS and PLC reporting Excellent analytical skills. Agile with accounting systems and financial reporting tools. Credibility and confidence to interact effectively with executive leadership and senior management.
