GMG is a well established family owned and run Dealer Group, which is the parent company for EMG and Mantles. GMG has 16 locations across East Anglia & Hertfordshire, we proudly represent Kia, Mazda, MG, and BYD, and provide specialist aftersales services for Ford, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Vauxhall, as well as used car dealerships and two Esso service stations. With an expanding footprint across Hertfordshire and East Anglia, we're now looking for a proactive and commercially minded Group HR Manager to work with closely within our management to assist all areas of our people stratergy.
About the Role
As Group HR Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the business through growth and change. You'll be responsible for developing HR policies, ensuring compliance, and supporting initiatives that retain, and develop talent across multiple sites. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic oversight with day-to-day HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HR operations across dealerships, service centers, and support functions.
Partner with managers to provide guidance on employee relations, performance, and organisational development.
Support the company with onboarding processes, ensuring the best talent joins and stays with the group.
Support training, learning, and career development opportunities for staff at all levels
Ensure compliance with UK employment law and implement best practice HR policies
Champion employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives across the group
Work closely with company directors on all areas of our people strategy.
To be successful in this role you will have;
Proven HR management experience in a multi-site, automotive, or retail environment.
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
Commercial awareness and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification in Human Resources or People Management.
Strong HR generalist background with excellent knowledge of UK employment law.
Comfortable working with HR systems and using data to inform decisions.
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and lead.
Experience in writing strategic HR documents and business cases.
High levels of integrity, sound judgement, and a calm approach under pressure.
Experience establishing an apprenticeship programme is advantageous but not essential.
