Group Poultry Nutritionist

Job Description

As part of our ambitious growth strategy there is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Group Poultry Nutritionist.
Working as part of the poultry team in conjunction with the senior management team, you will support the strategic development of the group poultry division across Fane Valley Feeds and Silver Hill Duck to maximise poultry performance, development and feed efficiency.
The Role:

  • Assist in implementing Fane Valley's poultry strategy, including pullet rearing, laying feed, and duck production improvements;
  • Drive initiatives to improve bird health, egg production, feed efficiency, and overall performance across hen and duck operations;
  • Collaborate with the Formulation Department to develop performance-driven poultry diets using specialised software;
  • Deliver expert nutritional advice, training, and support to farm staff and customers to optimise feed use and bird welfare;
  • Work closely with feed mill and quality teams to ensure consistent, legally compliant, and high-quality feed products;
  • Address customer queries, maintain CRM records, manage feeding trials, analyse data, and report on performance trends;
  • Contribute to emission-reduction projects, ensure health and safety compliance, and represent the company at events and training sessions.
The Person:
  • Holds a degree in animal science, agriculture, or a related field, preferably with a focus on poultry nutrition or animal feed formulation;
  • Relevant work experience in the poultry or animal feed sector, particularly in feed formulation, technical support, or performance optimisation;
  • Strong understanding of poultry nutrition, diet formulation software and feed ingredient functionality;
  • Capable of interpreting performance data to guide decision-making and improve outcomes;
  • Experience working with farmers or commercial producers, providing on-farm support, resolving technical issues, and building customer relationships;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver training, write reports, and present to diverse audiences;
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives both in team settings and when working independently to meet objectives.
