About the Role You will be working in conjunction with the Group Risk and Sustainability Director to drive forward the Group\xe2\x80\x99s risk management and sustainability positions as defined by the risk management and sustainability strategy for the Group. This will involve developing the existing workstreams and seeing these through to a successful conclusion. In addition you will also identify areas and workstreams to further the management of risk and sustainability in the Group. Given that the risk department is in its infancy there will be opportunities to shape how risk management is delivered and embedded in the Group. Key Responsibilities From the Risk perspective of the role \xe2\x80\x93

  • Play an active role in driving forward the concept of effective risk management in the Group \xe2\x80\x93 providing connectivity from the bottom up to the top down approach.
  • Risk identification, you will need to consider how our different business Divisions build up their risk analysis.
  • Constant and ongoing review of risk mitigation measures for suitability and completeness.
  • Develop frameworks for measuring risk to include Impact likelihood, Consolidation of risk areas
  • Board reporting, Lead Indicator reporting.
  • Promoting consistency in mitigating actions \xe2\x80\x93 if this is not in place this should be in line with appetite e.g. credit risk
  • Consider the sources of assurance used in the Group and how this would alert management of potential issues.
From the Sustainability perspective of the role \xe2\x80\x93
  • Demonstrate a robust environmental and sustainable position for the Group \xe2\x80\x93 this must stand up to external scrutiny specifically from customers and external bodies.
  • Consider the diligence process associated with deciding which Restoration and Conservation projects to sponsor and facilitate employee engagement.
  • Play an active part in the marketing sub-committee.
  • Play an active role in driving forward the concept of sustainable procurement within the Group.
  • Communication with our Senior Management Teams workstreams/ challenges.
  • Provide clarity over the Group\xe2\x80\x99s utilities and waste contracts and ensure the requisite usage reporting is available.
  • Emissions Management:
Consider the requirements for the SBTI submission Play an active role in calculating the complete Group emissions inventory Setting targets for emissions reduction with an action plan on how this is to be delivered Skills we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for (preferable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of plc corporate environment and the corporate governance expectations on such companies
  • Experience of audit or risk management practices from practice or from within the corporate environment
  • Possess the ability to translate RM theory into practice
  • Knowledge of the elements of sustainability that plc companies engage in. An appreciation of the various stakeholder groups who look inwardly at the sustainability work undertaken by the business.
  • Experience of managing multiple workstreams at one time - ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to influence Group and Divisional Management teams
  • Educated to degree level, specific qualifications relating to the field of work (desirable)
