Job Description

Location: Rushmere Farm, Hambledon, Hampshire with some days at Lockerley Estate, Romsey.

Salary: 23,900

Contract: Full-time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, occasional weekends may be required.

Hampshire Market Garden CIC grows organic fruit and vegetables using regenerative methods. We're passionate about championing sustainable food systems and building community through our market garden.

What You'll Do



1. Growing & Market Garden Maintenance

Plan and carry out seasonal planting, crop rotation, weeding, and harvesting Maintain infrastructure (polytunnels, beds, irrigation, equipment upkeep) Plant and nurture fruit trees, shrubs, and perennial crops Implement soil health practices--composting, mulching, cover-cropping
2. Community Engagement & Outreach

Take guided tours, workshops, and volunteer sessions to involve local groups, schools, and the public Represent the garden at farmers' markets, pop-up events, and community stalls Write garden updates, seasonal recipes, and feature stories for social media and newsletters Develop engaging educational materials that connect people with growing processes and sustainable food
3. Team Collaboration & Learning

Work closely with colleagues and volunteers, supervising and mentoring where needed Log garden activities and monitor crop progress to help plan future seasons Participate in team meetings and support other site projects
4. Health & Safety & Environmental Stewardship

Uphold high standards of site safety and tool handling Promote biodiversity by maintaining wildlife corridors, pollinator habitats, and habitat surveys Encourage a garden culture rooted in sustainability and community-minded stewardship

Who You Are



Interested with some experience in organic/regenerative growing, vegetables and fruit Confident facilitator with strong communication skills (speaking, teaching, written) are an advantage A natural connector, excited about building inclusive gardens and thriving communities Physically fit for outdoor, hands-on work in diverse weather conditions A team player with excellent organisation and project planning capabilities Proficient in basic IT (spreadsheets, content writing, email, simple graphics) Full UK driving licence preferred
