We're looking for a skilled and meticulous
Hand Soldering Operative
to join our electronics assembly team. You'll be primarily responsible for the accurate and efficient soldering of various electronic components onto PCBs and into finished products, ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability, and productivity are consistently maintained.
Responsibilities
?
Perform precise hand soldering
of surface mount (SMT) and through-hole (THT) electronic components onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) according to IPC standards and work instructions.

Operate a variety of soldering and rework equipment
safely and efficiently. This includes soldering irons, desoldering tools, and microscopes.
?
Perform detailed visual inspections
of solder joints, components, and assemblies to identify and resolve defects such as bridges, voids, cold joints, and component misplacement.

Adhere to all ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures
, health and safety regulations, and company policies, maintaining a clean and organised workstation at all times.
?
Identify and report any issues
with components (e.g., solderability, damage), equipment, or soldering processes to the team leader or supervisor promptly.
?
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
within the production environment, helping us find better ways to achieve soldering quality and efficiency.
?
Work effectively as part of a team
to achieve production targets and meet deadlines for electronic assembly.
Requirements
?
Proven experience in hand soldering
within an electronics manufacturing environment is essential, with a strong emphasis on both SMT and THT components.
?
Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills
are crucial for precise and intricate soldering work, especially with small or fine-pitch components.
?
Ability to read and interpret work instructions
, assembly diagrams, and basic electronic schematics.
?
Familiarity with various electronic components
(e.g., resistors, capacitors, ICs, connectors), their correct handling, polarity, and soldering requirements.
?
Proficient in using a range of hand tools
specific to electronics assembly, including soldering irons, desoldering tools, wire strippers, and digital multimeters for basic checks.
?
Basic understanding of IPC-A-610 standards
for electronic assemblies (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) is highly desirable.
?
Strong attention to detail
and a genuine commitment to producing high-quality, reliable solder joints.
?
Good communication skills
and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
?
Willingness to learn and adapt
to new soldering techniques, technologies, and product variations.
?
Physical stamina
to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive, detailed tasks, potentially including working under a microscope.
