About The Role





Are you a skilled and reliable handy person with a keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining welcoming environments? Join us at Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre Gillingham as a Painter, Decorator and Maintenance Handy Person and play a key part in ensuring our hospital remains clean, safe, and professionally presented.



This is a bank position offering flexible hours at 14 per hour, ideal for someone looking to apply their practical skills in a meaningful healthcare setting without the demands of large-scale construction or technical works.

What you'll be doing





As our Handy Person, you'll carry out a variety of minor maintenance and decorative tasks across the hospital. Your work will help maintain a positive and professional space for patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include:


Painting and decorating walls, doors, and other surfaces throughout the hospital Preparing surfaces and applying paints, varnishes, and finishes to a high standard Carrying out minor repairs and fitting items such as towel holders or rails Working safely at heights and in busy, occupied areas Liaising with other trades and specifying equipment or materials needed for tasks Maintaining awareness of health & safety requirements, including completing any necessary training Responding to ad hoc maintenance needs and supporting the wider facilities team as required

What we'll look for in you




With your experience in painting, decorating, and minor fabric maintenance, you will also be:


Comfortable working independently and able to manage small tasks proactively Friendly, approachable, and professional, with a positive attitude Flexible and able to adapt to the needs of a busy hospital environment Health & safety conscious, particularly when working in patient-occupied areas NVQ2 or City & Guilds (6707 or equivalent) in Painting and Decorating - Desirable Experience working at height and with associated access equipment - Desirable Familiarity with compiling or following risk assessments and method statements - Desirable Previous experience in a healthcare or care-based setting - Desirable
