Colton Commercials Haulage Ltd has been established as a premier transport & logistics company since 1979, based primarily in Barking, Essex with a second depot in Coventry, West Midlands. We cover the whole of the UK.



As a company we have worked with many major blue chip companies throughout our trading life both as a Transport & Logistics vendor, along with being a commercial vehicle repairer and recovery agent in our early years.



Over the years within the business we feel we have built up a good working and business relationship with our various clients allowing us to operate a fully Nationwide service on a 24/7 basis.



We are actively seeking an Experienced Transport Planner to be based at our Barking HQ

Job title: Experienced Transport Planner



Location: Barking, Essex



Monday to Friday with a Saturday rostered shift, working between the hours of 06.00 and 21.00 hours on a flexible shift pattern.



The role is available on a full time, permanent basis with excellent opportunities to progress.



Experience of working in a Road Haulage environment along with excellent geographical knowledge of Great Britain is essential. A good knowledge of the working time directive / drivers hours is essential along with a good command of the English language.



Salary, whilst extremely competitive, will be based on experience. Paid overtime is always available so there is an opportunity for those who would like to earn extra income on a flexible basis.



The candidate must understand a General Haulage traffic set up and be competent to plan vehicles with geographical knowledge and improving efficiency at all times

DUTIES

:

Planning work-loads & reloading for drivers and vehicles ensuring empty running of fleet is minimised

Inputting customer orders into the Mandata traffic system and completing jobs accordingly

Booking in deliveries on behalf of our customers and updating our customers systems

Effectively communicating delays and issues with our customers & drivers

Problem solving, acting on any problems which may occur and dealing with accordingly

Drawing up and Printing delivery notes, manifests and other paperwork

Liaising with 3rd party transport suppliers and our own drivers ensuring timely status information is entered into our system

Booking loading slots at our customer's sites for own vehicles and sub-contractors and sending daily loading plan information

Answering general phone calls and helping to deal with enquiries from both customers and drivers

Arranging the collection of returned goods and the delivery back to our customers

Building and maintaining a good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including team members, hauliers and customers.

This list is by no means exhaustive and you will be required to help with other general administration duties to support the department.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:



Previous General Traffic Transport office experience is essential

Mandata experience is essential

Attention to detail and accuracy

Adaptable approach to work

Conscientious and reliable

Able to work on own initiative and as a vital member of our team

Understanding and knowledge of drivers hours regulations and working time directive

Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure

Effectively prioritise work in order to manage workload

Good standard of computer literacy, particularly MS Outlook

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good telephone communication skills being essential to the role

Good level of customer service

Please note that applicants without a good command of the English Language will not be considered, as the successful applicant will need to be able to interact with our customers on a daily basis and good communication skills are essential for the role
