Job Overview:



We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Coffee Shop Manager to oversee the successful launch and day-to-day operations of a new coffee shop. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead a coffee shop from scratch, ensuring it aligns with our brand vision and delivers an exceptional experience to our customers. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and business acumen, as well as a passion for coffee culture and customer service.

Key Responsibilities: Pre-launch Responsibilities:



Coffee Shop Set-Up & Design:

Lead the planning and execution of the coffee shop's design and layout. Work closely with designers and contractors to ensure the space is functional, welcoming, and efficient. Coordinate the installation of coffee equipment, furniture, and decor.

Supplier and Vendor Relationships:

Establish relationships with coffee bean suppliers, local bakers, and other food vendors. Source high-quality coffee equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) and negotiate contracts for supply and delivery. Set up inventory management systems for food, beverages, and non-consumables.

Recruitment & Staff Training:

Hire a team of baristas. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for staff to ensure excellent customer service and product knowledge. Create team schedules and manage the recruitment process.

Menu Development & Pricing:

Collaborate with the owner to curate an exciting and innovative menu. Research competitors and market trends to develop pricing strategies. Ensure all menu items are prepared consistently and according to quality standards.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure the coffee shop complies with all local health and safety regulations. Set up cleaning schedules, safety procedures, and protocols to maintain a hygienic and safe environment. Organize necessary certifications (food safety, fire safety, etc.) for the team.

Marketing and Community Engagement:

Develop pre-launch marketing strategies to build buzz and attract customers. Collaborate with the marketing team (if applicable) to create social media content, print materials, and promotional events. Establish local partnerships for cross-promotion and build brand awareness in the community.

Post-launch Responsibilities:



Daily Operations:

Oversee the daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring it runs smoothly, efficiently, and to a high standard. Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership:

Provide day-to-day leadership, motivation, and support to the team. Foster a positive work environment that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and customer-first mentality. Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.

Financial Management:

Manage daily cash flow, monitor sales, and ensure profitability targets are met. Handle budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control (including labour, food, and beverage costs). Track and analyse sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Marketing & Customer Loyalty:

Implement ongoing marketing strategies to drive foot traffic, such as loyalty programs, special promotions, and local events. Cultivate strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business. Monitor customer feedback through surveys, reviews, and direct communication to continuously improve the experience.

Quality Control:

Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained in coffee preparation, food handling, and customer service. Regularly review and update the menu based on customer preferences and seasonal offerings. Perform regular quality checks and resolve any issues promptly.

Reporting & Administration:

Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, payroll, and other key operational data. Submit regular reports to the owner/operations director on performance metrics, financials, and team performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:



Experience:

Experience in the service industry, ideally with previous management experience. Experience in setting up a new business or project is a plus. Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso equipment, and specialty coffee.

Skills:

Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Strong business acumen, with a focus on financial management, budgeting, and cost control. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Passion for coffee, food, and delivering outstanding customer service. Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Personal Attributes:

Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse customers and team members. Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic and evolving environment. Self-starter with a proactive approach to work. A passion for community-building and creating a memorable customer experience.

Desirable Skills:



Experience in marketing, including social media management and event coordination. Previous experience working in high-end or specialty coffee environments. Knowledge of sustainability practices in foodservice and coffee sourcing.

We have ambitious plans for growth and our aim is the recruit this candidate initially as a manager of a single store but then the role to evolve to include training and recruiting more staff and then managing multiple locations with multiple staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.23-18.00 per hour
