Job Overview
This is a very exciting opportunity for a well established Head Chef or a highly experienced Sous Chef looking to join a brand new hospitality venue from the grass roots and helping us build our brand from the ground up, giving you the ability to put your own stamp on our new Live Music Bar and Eatery. The incumbent will assume the role at our The Birdcage Alnwick, a new concept for the area.
We are looking for someone with a flair for "your" kitchen and to truly own your domain. You'll take charge of the menu design and presentation of dishes and will be adept at ensuring your workspace is neat, tidy and hygienic, conforming to SFBB guidelines as a minimum. You will also be a master at maintaining a profitable margin on food items and work with the owner to create new dining experiences and discuss ideas.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation for a high volume establishment, ensuring that the dishes meet the highest standards of quality, taste and presentation while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Duties
Lead and manage the kitchen, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food production.
Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
Supervise daily kitchen operations, including inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences.
Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain high standards.
Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to optimise kitchen efficiency.
Experience
Proven experience as a Head Chef or an ideal opportunity for an aspiring experienced Sous Chef wishing to take charge of their own kitchen for the first time and elevate their passion with a completely clean canvas.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and food safety regulations.
Experience in menu development and food production management is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills with a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality.
