Head Chef
to lead our kitchen team, deliver outstanding dining experiences, and help shape the culinary offering for our members and guests.
Why This Role is Special:
Unlike typical hospitality environments, working at a golf club offers more balanced hours and a structured working week. Our general operating hours finish around 5pm, with occasional evening events--but not on a regular weekly basis--giving you a rare opportunity to enjoy the rewards of your craft without the relentless evening shifts common in other catering roles.
Role Overview:
As Head Chef, you will take full ownership of all catering operations, from creating menus and managing inventory to leading a passionate kitchen team. Your goal is to deliver exceptional food and service that enhances the member and guest experience while supporting the club's reputation and revenue growth. You will work alongside the F&B Team Leader and report directly to the Clubhouse Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Design innovative and appealing menus that reflect high culinary standards.
Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency.
Manage and develop kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team.
Monitor inventory, order ingredients, and maintain kitchen equipment efficiently.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and safety regulations.
Lead catering for events, delivering exceptional experiences for members and guests.
Support revenue growth through excellent food quality, service, and team engagement.
Essential Requirements:
City & Guilds 706/1 | 706/2 Catering
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3
Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety Awards
Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
Minimum 2 years' relevant experience
Knowledge of manual handling techniques and COSHH regulations
Experience with kitchen equipment and safe handling of knives
Competent spoken and written English
Ability to consistently produce high-quality food
Strong communication and team leadership skills
Excellent attention to detail and numeracy
Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and those of your team
Adaptability and openness to new ideas
Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
Positive, approachable, and team-oriented attitude
Working Hours:
General operating hours finish around 5pm
Occasional evening work for special events, but not a regular weekly pattern
