Positioned in the back streets of Wanstead, a leafy 'village' in the suburbs of East London, as part of a small independent F&B operator, The Duke, is an established neighbourhood pub and dining room, with a great reputation for a decent seasonal menu and excellent hospitality, and we're now looking for an experienced Head Chef to take us to the next stage.
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, staff management, food safety and cost control. You will have creative freedom to shape the menu while maintaining the standards that our customers know and love.
The ideal candidate
Lead and inspire the kitchen team to deliver high-quality food
Experienced in creating a daily changing, fresh seasonal menu showcasing the very best produce
Passionate about sustainability and ethical farming methods
Well versed in managing events whilst running a busy dining room
Design and implement seasonal menus and specials
Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards
Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards (HACCP compliance)
Recruit, train, and develop kitchen staff
Monitor kitchen budgets, food costs, and profit margins
