HEAD CHEF



The Kitchen at Macknade Fine Food Hall truly showcases what can be done with the fantastic ingredients found at Macknade. Our passionate team create all manner of wonderful dishes, and draw real inspiration from the unique opportunity of having Macknade as their kitchen larder, handpicking the finest ingredients from our on-site butchery, greengrocery and delicatessen.

With a recent Kitchen upgrade enabling us to widen our menu, and a fast growing in house Production offer, we are now looking to expand our team to create and deliver our outstanding produce to our customers.

THE ROLE



As Head Chef at Macknade, you will

Lead the development and delivery of an innovative, ingredient-led menu that showcases Macknade's top-quality produce Drive a sector-leading food offer by continuously improving and evolving dishes and presentation Inspire, motivate, and mentor the kitchen team through passion, enthusiasm, and hands-on leadership Manage kitchen performance both operationally and financially, including budgeting, cost control, and stock management
You will have

Proven experience leading a kitchen team as a Head Chef or Senior Chef Strong creative flair with a passion for ingredient-driven, seasonal cooking Sound understanding of kitchen operations, menu costing and financial performance

We are looking for a full time position of 42.5 hours per week and this will include working at weekends. Hours of work will vary, with the Cafe open 7 days a week and occasional evenings.

Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience.

Summary of post:

To lead the development and delivery of Cafe Kitchen operations at the Macknade.

Duties and Responsibilities:



1. To be responsible for the Cafe kitchen operations at Macknade, including events and Food Village delivery.

2. To Lead the development and delivery of an innovative, ingredient-led menu that showcases Macknade's top-quality produce.

3. Drive a sector-leading food offer by continuously improving and evolving dishes and presentation

4. Manage kitchen performance both operationally and financially, including budgeting, cost control, and stock management

5. To provide energetic and inspiring leadership for all kitchen staff, ensuring that they have clear responsibilities and accountability.

6. To work with individual leads to develop the offer through product alterations as required

7. To lead in and ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint.

8. Ensure that optimal staffing structures are in place to deliver a high-quality customer experience whilst maintaining an efficient cost base within budget.

9. To comply with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection ensuring a 5hygiene rating is achieve
10. To demonstrate positive personal and professional behaviour as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct.

11. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

Person Specification

Skills and Experience



Experience in a similar role with responsibility for delivering results in a commercial context

Experience of managing kitchen operations, menu costing and financial performance with successful results

Proven ability to lead a team to deliver outstanding customer service at every touchpoint

Highly effective organisational skills with proven ability to successfully develop and work within a positive and inclusive culture

A clear passion to build on the Macknade reputation for offering high quality, value for money and an outstanding experience

Detailed knowledge of high quality food and drink

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 35,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
