Are you a passionate and skilled chef looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of seniors? Join our team at Jewish Care as a Head Chef for our residential care home, in Ilford.


We are seeking a culinary professional who is committed to delivering high-quality, nutritious, and delicious meals to our residents.

This post is working 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days including 1 in 3 weekends. Shifts are from 7am to 3.30pm or 10 am to 6.30pm with occasional evenings for events.

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for:

Menu Planning and Development: Create well-balanced and appetising menus that meet the nutritional needs of seniors while considering dietary restrictions and preferences. Food Preparation and Presentation: Oversee the preparation and presentation of meals with a focus on quality, flavour, and visual appeal. Ensure that meals are served at the right temperature and in a timely manner. Kitchen Management: Efficiently manage the kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment. Team Leadership: Lead and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team delivers exceptional service. Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and any other relevant guidelines. Customer Satisfaction: Solicit and incorporate resident feedback to continuously improve the dining experience. Strive for high levels of resident satisfaction through excellent food and service.

What you will need:

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar setting. Culinary degree or equivalent certification. Strong leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for seniors. Ability to create innovative and appealing menus. Familiarity with kitchen management software and inventory control. Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
