As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Head Chef to take the lead in the kitchen, ensuring the quality and consistency of every dish we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Creation & Development:
Design and create exciting, seasonal menus that showcase the best of British pub food. Incorporate local ingredients and reflect customer preferences, with options for both classic favourites and innovative new dishes.
Kitchen Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, manage, and inspire the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations and a motivated workforce. Train and develop staff to maintain high standards and ensure efficiency and consistency during busy service periods.
Food Quality & Presentation:
Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all dishes to the highest standards, ensuring a consistent dining experience for every customer. Maintain portion control and food quality at all times.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that the kitchen complies with all food safety regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, with a focus on food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
Stock Control & Ordering:
Manage kitchen stock levels, ensuring that all ingredients are ordered, stored, and rotated appropriately. Work closely with suppliers to maintain cost-effective stock levels and reduce waste.
Budget & Cost Control:
Work within budgetary constraints, managing food costs and ensuring efficient use of resources. Help to control portion sizes and monitor wastage to maximise profitability while maintaining quality.
Collaboration with Front of House:
Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication between kitchen and service. Ensure that all food orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner, even during peak hours.
Customer Experience:
Strive to provide an exceptional food experience for every customer. Listen to customer feedback, resolve any issues, and maintain a high level of service at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a pub, restaurant, or similar high-volume venue.
Strong passion for British pub food with the ability to prepare and serve traditional dishes to a high standard.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience running a busy kitchen.
Sound knowledge of food hygiene regulations, health and safety procedures, and kitchen safety.
Experience managing kitchen budgets, food costs, and stock control.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and lead a team during busy service.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
A proactive attitude, with a focus on continuous improvement and maintaining high standards.
