Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated
Head Chef
to join our team at [Care Home Name] in Wales. As Head Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious, delicious, and well-balanced meals tailored to their specific needs. You will oversee the kitchen operations and lead a team of catering staff while maintaining the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Planning & Preparation:
Create, plan, and prepare menus that cater to individual dietary needs, preferences, and special diets (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic).
Meal Service:
Ensure all meals are served on time and are of the highest quality.
Staff Management:
Lead, motivate, and manage a team of catering staff, including scheduling and allocating tasks. Conduct staff inductions, appraisals, and personal development plans.
Stock & Inventory Control:
Manage food stock, order supplies, and maintain cost-effective operations while ensuring quality standards.
Health & Safety:
Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations. Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and safe to use, reporting any faults immediately.
Recruitment & Training:
Assist in the recruitment of new catering staff and deliver on-the-job training to ensure compliance with company standards.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a
Head Chef
or in a senior kitchen role, ideally within a care home or similar setting.
Strong leadership skills and experience in managing a team.
Excellent knowledge of food hygiene standards and allergen management.
Ability to adapt menus to meet dietary requirements and preferences.
Passion for providing high-quality care and ensuring residents' welfare.
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable attitude.
