Job Description

We are looking for a Head Chef to join our team.

This is a great opportunity to join and lead a skilled team in a increasingly busy village pub that does both a la carte and carvery.

You must be passionate about working with fresh ingredients and ideas for new dishes to design our seasonally changing menus and specials and be confident in all areas of running the kitchen and managing and training staff.

You will be confident in all aspects of food preparation and service, demonstrating experience/qualifications in a similar environment to a high standard and managing a team to strive for the same high standards.

You will have awareness of all relevant health & safety legislation, and ensuring compliance within the law in all areas of food hygiene management and allergen information and requirements.

You must be able to be flexible and available to work weekends. The salary and rota is based on a 50 hour working week, PLUS any OVERTIME worked paid at an hourly rate. Live in potentially available if needed.

There are great transport links to our venue, with Midgham train station just a 2 minute walk from the pub (train from Reading to Newbury) and the No 1 bus stop right on our doorstep, as well as car parking for any candidate that drives.

Responsibilities



Oversee all food preparation and cooking activities to ensure high-quality dishes are served. Manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to maintain a cohesive team. Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations. Supervise food production processes to optimize efficiency and quality. Collaborate with restaurant management to develop menus and special offerings. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to hospitality standards.

Qualifications



Extensive experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment Strong culinary skills with a focus on food safety and hygiene Proven leadership abilities and experience in team management Background in hospitality and restaurant operations Supervisory experience in food production and kitchen staff management Ability to create and implement menus while ensuring high-quality food service
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 40,000.00-42,000.00 per year
