The Whippet Inn York est 2012 is an independent restaurant specialising in steak and seafood, we're a quirky business with loads of personality. With our 3 onsite dry aging cabinets, beef is at the forefront of what we do, specifically our ex dairy beef which shows our unique approach to food.
We're looking for a Head Chef with genuine passion for cooking and providing guests with unforgettable experiences. The ideal candidate will be able to manage, train and control a team to ensure they are working to the best of their abilities. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Duties
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operation.
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations.
Collaborate with the senior management team and owner to develop seasonal menus that reflect current culinary trends.
Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and restaurant policies.
Ensure that all dishes are prepared on time and meet quality expectations before serving.
Foster a positive team environment through effective communication and leadership.
Skills
Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting.
Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills.
