We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have extensive culinary experience and a strong background in food preparation and safety. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and creating innovative meal options that delight our Residents
Promote the Vision Statement of the Company at all times.
Plan, prepare and provide nutritious menus for residents on a daily basis within the allocated food budget.
Prepare, cook and serve meals and beverages chosen by the service users, from the menu for the day using stock as required as economically as possible whilst still maintaining the highest possible quality without undue waste, shortages or excesses. Meals must take into consideration any cultural or dietary needs of the service user.
Ensure all Health and Safety and Environmental Health Standards are achieved and maintained. This includes a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
Ensure that all equipment used is well maintained, in good working order and report any defects to the administration team.
Liaise with chosen suppliers about ordering the required stock whilst maintaining the budget.
Store all food safely, rotating stock and keeping a check of 'use by' dates
Observe refrigeration storage and temperature checks, recording them daily
Ensure that frozen foods are defrosted safely and in sufficient time to be cooked the following day.
Check and record the temperature of food during cooking, at completion and before serving from the hot trolley.
Over-see cleaning duties according to the rota and record completion appropriately.
Work closely with residents to plan menus that reflect choice and preferences.
Direct and supervise all Kitchen Staff and ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities with regards to Food Hygiene and preparation, and Health and Safety requirements. Work closely with the Home Manager to ensure catering services are provided to the appropriate standards.
Maintain and check First Aid equipment within the Kitchen.
Report any problems, shortages, breakages and faults to the Nurse Manager or the person in charge.
Be aware of potential risks to service users from kitchen equipment, cooking processes and cleaning materials.
Participate in staff meetings and in staff training where applicable
Attend the Residents and Relatives meetings when necessary.
Provide hospitality for visitors and for functions.

Experience
Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or catering environment is essential.
Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal presentation.
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is required.
Previous experience in managing a kitchen team is highly desirable.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes is essential for success in this role.
