Union Quay Dental are looking for an experienced dental nurse looking to further their career as a head nurse. We are looking for an extremely motivated dental nurse with excellent leadership skills and standards.

What's the practice like?



We are a busy, fully private, seven surgery practice situated at North Shields fish quay. We are fully digital with the latest equipment - intraoral scanners, CBCT, digital X-rays, with an onsite lab. The practice is under new ownership and will undergo refurbishment later in 2025.

Role Overview



As Head Dental Nurse you will play a crucial role in managing your team of dental nurses. You will work closely with our practice manager and dentists to provide high-quality treatment, ensure the comfort and well-being of our patients, and maintain a clean and efficient work environment.

You will be responsible for maintaining standards in line with CQC & GDC regulations as well as training and supporting your clinical team. You will oversee your teams' rotas and be the nursing teams point of contact.

Key Responsibilities:



Work alongside our experienced practice manager to ensure the smooth day to day running of our clinic.

Leadership & Supervision:

Lead, supervise, and mentor the dental nursing team. Carry out nurse meetings including daily morning huddle.

Training & Development:

Support both trainee dental nurses and qualified nurses with their CPD and PDP. Take lead on the training and development of new dental nurses ensuring training is of a high standard.

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure regulatory compliance by carrying out audits and maintaining strict infection control procedures.

Scheduling & Workflow:

Manage staff rotas to ensure the practice is appropriately staffed and time is used as efficiently as possible.

Chairside Assistance:

Assist the dentist during treatments and clinical procedures, maintaining high standards of care (2 days per week).

Stock control:

Manage stock control, ensuring supplies are ordered and maintained appropriately

What We Are Looking For:



GDC Registered Dental Nurse with a minimum of 3 years' experience. At least 1 year of experience as a head nurse/clinical lead. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate the team. Ideally be radiography trained (desired but not essential). Proficient at IT systems including Microsoft office. Strong clinical expertise and a keen eye for detail. A proactive, organized, and compassionate approach to patient care. Experience in managing a team and leading day-to-day clinical operations is highly desirable. Passion for high-quality care and continuous improvement in clinical practices.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From 15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

Monday to Friday with Saturdays on a rota basis.
