We are now seeking a Head of Business Development to join our recruitment company, City Calling, and play a key role in driving growth, building client relationships, and expanding our market presence. ROLE SPECIFICATION:



The Head of Business Development is responsible for leading & delivering the growth of City Calling within the construction sector & allied industries. The role requires a hands-on approach to sales, including generating leads, winning new business, managing the sales process, and developing long-term client relationships. The post-holder will also contribute to brand reputation and market positioning through networking, industry knowledge, and proactive engagement with clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Identify and secure new business opportunities, generating and signing new clients. Manage and deliver the full sales process, identifying successes and challenges to improve efficiency and performance. Establish and develop strong consultative relationships with prospective clients, ensuring we are the go-to partner for staffing solutions across the construction industry (& allied industries) Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company growth objectives. Identify and secure new business opportunities within the construction industry, including contractors, developers, and consultancies. Build, manage, and maintain long-term client relationships at a senior level. Lead pitches, negotiations, and tender processes for new contracts. Collaborate with the Resourcing team to align business development activities with talent delivery capabilities. Negotiate rates and contracts with clients, ensuring commercial value for both parties. Attend client meetings, networking events, and industry forums to develop new opportunities and enhance brand presence. Create and contribute to business development marketing content (including social media) to support brand reputation and market visibility. Gather market intelligence, monitor competitor activity, and stay up to date with industry trends to influence sales and recruitment strategies. Collaborate with other companies within the group to cross-sell services and products. Track industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities in the construction recruitment market. Deliver regular reports and forecasts on pipeline activity, sales performance, and market intelligence. Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and conferences. Mentor and develop junior business development staff to achieve targets and support career growth. Work to agreed business development KPIs and revenue targets.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:



Proven track record in senior business development within the construction recruitment sector Existing client networks within the UK construction sector. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to develop and execute long-term growth strategies. Commercially astute with a strong understanding of recruitment sales cycles and tender processes. Exceptional leadership and communication skills. Results-oriented with the drive to exceed sales and revenue targets. Strong knowledge of the construction sector and/or related industries (e.g. rail, energy, infrastructure). Demonstrable success in lead generation through to contract negotiation and deal closure. Tenacious, resilient, and highly motivated, with the ability to achieve and exceed challenging sales targets. Ability to build strong, consultative relationships at senior decision-making level. Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:



This role is target-driven, and performance will be reviewed against agreed KPIs and revenue objectives. The post-holder will be required to travel to client sites, networking events, and industry forums. Standard working hours apply, but flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the role.
