If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as the Head of Consultant Engagement to guide and lead the team to increase the number of academic acting as consultants and the number of customers that they are supporting. You will ensure that all opportunities are commercially viable, provide academic benefit and are aligned with governance and legal structures.

This role will draw on expertise developed in positions such as Business Development, Client Engagement, Client Liaison, Consultant, or similar.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the team ensuring training and resources support the service requirements.
  • Coordinate all opportunity development work ensuring the proposals and bids are produced in a timely fashion.
  • Identify and manage opportunity risks through appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all partners.
  • Apply appropriate expertise and judgement to ensure that internal and external customers\' needs are met.
  • Continuously review the function\'s performance and monitor external benchmarks to maintain a continuous improvement ethos.
Essential requirements
  • An undergraduate level degree, or similar qualification/experience, in a relevant business, scientific or technological subject area.
  • Extensive experience of client engagement and/or business development preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Experience of leading a team including experience of delegation, motivation and empowerment of staff.
  • Strong relationship development skills and collaborative approach.
  • Strong delivery focus in a complex organisation, balancing systematic planning, attention to detail and influencing to develop opportunities from ideas to signed deals.
  • Commercial competence - comfortable in handling financial data and value pricing.
  • Experience of mitigating risk and the key contractual elements to provide this mitigation.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
