Role Overview


The Head of Events is responsible for leading our entire event portfolio end-to-end - including conferences, awards, webinars, networking events and report launches. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on operational excellence, team development, and consistently delivering high-quality events that enhance the LaingBuisson brand and customer experience.

The successful candidate will be a confident leader with strong project management skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to mentor and build high-performing teams. You will ensure every event runs smoothly, on time, and on budget, while continuously improving processes and developing the capability of the events function.

Key Responsibilities



Event Operations and Delivery



Lead the planning and execution of all LaingBuisson events, ensuring exceptional delivery standards and seamless on-site management.

Oversee event logistics including venue sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, delegate management, and technical production.

Manage event budgets effectively, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost control, and value for money.

Implement consistent operational processes and best practices across the events portfolio.

Conduct detailed post-event evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement and operational efficiencies.

Ensure all events comply with health and safety requirements and risk management procedures.

Strategy and Planning



Develop and maintain an events calendar aligned with LaingBuisson's business goals and sector priorities.

Work closely with Conference Producers to shape event content that is relevant, engaging, and market leading.

Identify opportunities to innovate and improve the delegate, sponsor, and speaker experience.

Team Leadership and Development



Lead, mentor, and develop the events team, providing clear direction, coaching, and ongoing professional development.

Build a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.

Support the team in day-to-day problem solving, prioritisation, and decision-making.

Foster an inclusive and positive environment that encourages creativity, initiative, and professional growth.

Collaboration with Marketing



Partner with the marketing team to ensure event promotion, delegate acquisition, and communications are aligned with event objectives.

Coordinate on post-event content, highlights, and brand communications to maximise impact and engagement.

Brand and Stakeholder Engagement



Deliver events that reflect and strengthen LaingBuisson's brand reputation within the health and social care community.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, sponsors, venues, and suppliers.

Ensure all event touchpoints provide a consistent, high-quality brand experience

Requirements



7 years+ of event management experience leading large B2B events (awards and conferences would be preferable).
At least 2 days a week in the London office but more may be required in the lead up to an event.
Proven success in delivering complex, multi-stakeholder events on time and within budget.
Excellent leadership and team development skills.
Strong organisational and project management ability, with exceptional attention to detail.
Commercial acumen and confident budget management skills.
A hands-on approach with a calm, solution-focused mindset.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and with clients.
Proficiency with event management and CRM systems, plus Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Clouds system would be an advantage.
Willingness to travel to events across the UK as required with some overnight stay required.
