Job Description


The MSCI External Communications team is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive external communications strategy that elevates MSCI's brand, protects its reputation, and supports business growth across global markets. Working closely with senior leadership, business leads, and regional teams, the External Communications function drives media engagement, positions MSCI executives and subject matter experts as thought leaders, and ensures consistent, high-impact messaging around key initiatives including product launches, research, and corporate milestones.
Reporting to the Global Head of External Communications, the Vice President, Head of External Communications, Americas will be responsible for overseeing the public relations strategy for MSCI across the Americas region. This is a unique leadership opportunity to elevate brand presence and shape external narrative for a leading financial services firm in a key growth region.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communications professional with expertise in financial media, a talent for storytelling and crafting compelling narratives, and a strong ability to navigate and adapt quickly and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Lead the PR strategy for the Americas region to drive and promote key initiatives, product launches, research, and other milestones, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives and seamless collaboration with peers in the EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key financial, business, and trade journalists in the region, guiding the Americas PR teams media efforts through strategic storytelling and thought leadership.
  • Build strong partnerships with senior business leaders to ensure PR strategies are aligned with and support regional business objectives.
  • Work closely with the Global Head of External Communications to proactively manage local issues and mitigate risks.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., Product Marketing, Product, Research, etc.) and regional PR leads to ensure consistent external messaging and integrated PR initiatives.
  • Partner with the PR Manager, Americas to oversee and manage PR agency relationships.
  • Increase visibility of senior executives in the Americas region through strategic media engagement, thought leadership, and speaking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team to implement strategic media monitoring, monitor regional trends, and identify appropriate measurement tactics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts and inform future PR strategies.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in public relations or similar field, with a focus on financial services.
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all media types, with the ability to simplify complex financial topics into compelling narratives.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with financial and business media.
  • Experience working with and advising senior leaders.
  • Experience in issues management, with a strong track record of collaborating effectively across teams to address challenges and ensure consistent communication.
  • Strategic mindset with a track record of executing high-impact PR campaigns.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while consistently delivering results.
