Idris Davies School is seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Head of Languages to lead a dynamic and forward-thinking faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and ambitious leader to drive further success in a highly valued and well-established department.
About the Role
The Languages team at Idris Davies 3-18 School is made up of highly motivated and enthusiastic staff who are passionate about language learning and pupil development. If successful, you will be joining a friendly, high-performing faculty that is wholly committed to providing the best academic outcomes and personal growth opportunities for all pupils.
As Head of Languages, you will lead the strategic direction, curriculum development, and daily operations of the faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning. You will play a key role in promoting bilingualism and supporting the school's vision for language learning within the context of Curriculum for Wales.
Key Responsibilities
Provide inspirational leadership to the Languages faculty
Oversee the delivery of Welsh Second Language, French, and Agored Cymru qualifications
Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across all key stages
Develop innovative, research-informed approaches to curriculum design and pedagogy
Lead the integration of ICT and digital tools to enhance language learning
Contribute to whole-school priorities including the promotion of the Welsh language and cultural identity
Coordinate and support extracurricular activities such as the school Eisteddfod and International Languages Day

About You
The successful candidate will be:
A passionate linguist with a proven track record of successful leadership or middle leadership
An excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge
Committed to bilingualism and the promotion of Welsh culture and identity
Able to lead by example and inspire others to achieve excellence
Skilled in using technology and research-led strategies to enhance learning
