Head of New Product Delivery (Insurance)
70,000 - 90,000 dependent on experience + car allowance
12 month secondment
Hybrid - London/Folkestone

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will own the new product delivery agenda, manage the backlog, and drive delivery - working closely with internal teams and partners to launch customer-focused, compliant, and commercially successful products.
We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. In this role, we would expect to see you in both our Folkestone and London offices twice a week.
Role Responsibility
As our Head of Product Development, you will be responsible for defining and communicating a clear product vision aligned with business strategy
Your accountabilities, will include:

• Prioritising product goals based on customer value, ROI, and business objectives.

• Owning and managing the product backlog: writing, prioritising, and refining user stories and epics.

• Ensuring backlog is visible, transparent, and understood by stakeholders and the team.

• Acting as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the development team.

• Manage expectations, gather input, and ensure stakeholder needs are translated into product features.

• Participating actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Ensuring development team understands items in the backlog to the level needed.

• Representing the voice of the customer and market within the agile team.

• Validating features and enhancements based on user feedback and data.

• Accepting or reject work results during sprint reviews.

• Ensuring that delivered functionality meets business objectives and acceptance criteria.

• Identifying, managing, and communicating risks, issues, and dependencies affecting product delivery.

• Using data to track progress, measure outcomes, and inform decision-making (e.g., velocity, customer satisfaction, product adoption).

• Ensuring smooth cross-functional alignment and communication.

The Ideal Candidate
You'll bring with you a proven track record of delivering customer-focused solutions and measurable product success within the Insurance industry. Ideally you will have experience working within large scale Agile environments.
Other experience required includes:

• Deep understanding of product lifecycle, roadmapping, and go-to-market strategies

• Strong grasp of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and product owner responsibilities

• Ability to create clear, concise, testable stories and define acceptance criteria

• Strong prioritization skills using methods like MoSCoW, WSJF, or value vs. effort matrices

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Ability to analyse data, KPIs, and customer feedback to drive decisions

• Clear communicator, facilitator, and influencer across all levels of the organization

• Basic understanding of software architecture, APIs, cloud technologies
