About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Head of Operations
to lead our South Central operations team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management of our two delivery locations in Reading and Southampton. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, driving high-quality service, ensuring operational success, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing operations team, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the strategic direction of the region.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Management
Oversee the safe and efficient running of our Reading and Southampton office/classroom locations
Lead, mentor, and motivate the operations team to deliver exceptional service to internal teams, learners, and clients.
Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), including exam revenue and external room hire expenditure.
Work closely with the QV (scheduling) team to proactively identify and resolve any capacity issues.
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
Act as a key problem-solver for all teams at South Central and a full, active member of the Senior Management Team.
Liaise with other teams across the network, representing the South Central team to ensure new developments are effectively operationalised.
Contribute fully to the regional plan, budget, and regular senior management team meetings.
Ensure our approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals is considered and embedded in all aspects of centre operations.
Administrative & Compliance Oversight
Support the Managing Director by taking responsibility for the planning and execution of team meetings, training days, and events.
Ensure all actions arising from meetings are accurately recorded and followed up on promptly.
Serve as the local HR representative, working closely with the People Team to ensure all performance reviews, CPD logs, and compliance training modules are completed.
Oversee all compliance requirements for exams and regulatory bodies, ensuring the team's adherence to standards.
Provide administrative and reporting support to other teams as required.
Ensure all bookings are processed on time, team inboxes are managed efficiently, and the CRM system is fully utilised.
Continuous Improvement & Regulatory Knowledge
Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, embracing network-wide developments and driving local improvements and efficiencies.
Demonstrate a strong awareness of the regulatory implications of delivering training and apprenticeships, including DfE, Ofsted, and HSE requirements.

Location
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of two days per week in our Reading location and an additional day per fortnight in Southampton.
