The UK Schools team at OUP publish a wide range of successful educational products for ages 3 to 18, working with teachers, educational partners, and industry experts to ensure maximum impact on educational outcomes.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact in education in a senior role in the UK Schools Product team. As Head of Science, you will take on product leadership for a market leading portfolio that spans Primary and Secondary and the Sciences and Psychology.

You will provide clear leadership on the strategy for UK Science and Psychology, and champion key educational projects and partnerships across this portfolio. Working with the Product Director, and alongside the other Heads of Portfolios, you will contribute to the UK Schools Product Strategy.

You will lead and develop a passionate and creative team of publishers and commissioning editors to ensure the development of all products and services are problem-orientated, impactful, and market leading.

You will have and develop a strong and diverse network of partners, authors, experts, and educators to ensure you and your team are able to develop the best possible products and services.

The role will be accountable for UK Science team performing all of its activities to the highest standards in a manner that is consistent with the Press\xe2\x80\x99s code of conduct, policies and values and for OUP\xe2\x80\x99s reputation in the market.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

We are looking for candidates with significant experience in science education, gained through product or teaching roles.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

Essential:

  • Creative and innovative mindset
  • Open and adaptable to change
  • Experience in the conceptualisation, development and delivery of innovative, successful educational products and services.
  • Experience of UK Education markets and strong commercial experience and skills.
  • Proven team leadership, management, negotiating, and influencing skills, with strong financial management skills.
  • Extensive experience of school publishing or teaching in a relevant subject
  • Extensive experience of print and digital publishing and strategic partnership building
  • Extensive experience of managing teams
Desirable:
  • Detailed knowledge of UK Schools Publishing Processes
