We are looking for an exceptional leader to take responsibility for the strategic management of our Property portfolio, including Facilities and Estates Management, Building Energy performance and the specification and oversight of Property Projects. This includes enabling third-party investment into our estate via schemes such as the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme.
Reporting to the Major Projects Director, the successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading teams and managing contracts or operational activity at the interface between infrastructure, operations and client bodies - ideally within the rail industry. The role will work closely with Network Rail and other industry partners to lead dedicated property team and influence cross-functional colleagues through a matrix structure in order to successfully deliver initiatives that improve customer experience, outcomes and efficiency targets.
Key priorities include:
Optimising the design of our property model to deliver safety, service quality, sustainability and a positive employee experience
Maintaining a forward-looking property strategy aligned with ambitious business objectives
Oversight of the end-to-end delivery of property projects - from feasibility and specification, through procurement and construction to final handover
Acting as a key interface for third-party delivered projects at our stations and working with industry partners across the North of England.
We are looking for an industry leader with excellent knowledge of infrastructure and operational interfaces and strong commercial and project management capability. While senior-level experience is preferred, we also welcome applications from candidates ready to step up into a leadership role, provided you bring the passion and collaborative mindset required to help manage and improve our stations and wider estate.
You will deliver activity, through inspirational and effective leadership of the property team and meet the needs of internal leaders and our teams across the business. You will ensure that TPE successfully specifies and manages its outsourced Facilities Management and Estates contracts and associated capital projects. You will be accountable for ensuring compliance with industry legislation and company standards, particularly as Client under the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
A strong focus on revenue generation, cost control, risk management and stakeholder engagement are essential.
The successful candidate will role model the highest standards of collaborative leadership, engaging with colleagues from the frontline to the boardroom across the industry whilst helping to deliver the safe and successful improvements that benefit the customers and the communities we serve.
