Property Services Operations are a part of the Property Division and their vast array of activities across a multi-campus university, supports our academic community of world leaders in the provision of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Business Management, Research and Teaching.
In this role you will lead and be accountable for the day-to-day management and effective communication of all matters relating to stores, logistics, car parking, waste, recycling, and postal services across all Imperial buildings covering multiple campuses, ensuring delivery against agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will be responsible to develop, implement, and continuously improve a central, Imperial-wide logistics and facilities service that reflects industry best practice and supports the operational needs of all campuses and sites.
What you would be doing

This is a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of supply chains and essential support services across Imperial. You will bring a proven track record in academic supply and retail operations, combined with wider expertise in logistics management. As logistics is a dynamic and fast-paced field, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, manage unexpected challenges, and resolve issues swiftly and effectively is essential.
A strong understanding of logistics systems, software, and technologies that streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery is key to success in this role.
The role involves leading and managing multiple operational teams, ensuring alignment to shared goals, compliance with service standards, and the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
You will oversee the effective management of car park access and permit administration across all Imperial campuses, ensuring systems operate efficiently, lead waste and recycling operations, including the safe and compliant management of hazardous waste streams and embedding a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across all services.
Equally important, you will champion customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement and will cultivate a culture of great service within all teams -- one that is responsive, proactive, and focused on meeting the diverse needs of students, staff, and visitors. Through effective leadership, engagement, and communication, you will ensure that teams consistently deliver professional, courteous, and solution-oriented support, enhancing the overall customer experience across Imperial's operational portfolio.
You will play a leading role in mobilising and integrating services across new developments, refurbishments, and acquisitions, ensuring operational readiness from day one.
What we are looking for

A professional qualification at Level 4, or above, in a field relevant to the duties of the post e.g. Logistics and Warehouse Management
Recognised qualification in Health & Safety e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, CIEH Level 3 or a willingness to train
Demonstrable understanding of regulations and regulated practices including environmental legislation and delivering sustainability and net zero commitments
Best practice for outsourcing goods receiving and delivery services
Excellent working knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and relevant legislation
Specialist knowledge and understanding of logistics and postal management practices and experience in working in a large complex estate and a similar education setting
Strong leadership and management skills allied with well-developed team skills to foster collective ownership and purpose
Forward thinking, innovative and able to anticipate and find solutions to problems, prioritising workloads to meet deadlines whilst embracing continuous improvement
Self-motivated professional who is organised and diligent in establishing and meeting milestones and has the ability to identify and manage risk
Build effective relationships with a diverse range of people and to take a proactive role in communication and consultation
Flexible approach to working on a 5/7 day contract and sufficient to be able to work at any Imperial location, as reasonably requested
