Job Title: Head of Repairs

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for delivering exceptional repairs and maintenance services to residents? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Head of Repairs.

As a key member of the Repairs Directorate within the Housing Section, you will play a pivotal role in leading and strategically overseeing the repairs and maintenance service for residents throughout Lewisham. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Investment, this role involves managing both an In-House Contractor team and third-party delivery partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and strategically oversee responsive repairs, out-of-hours service, and specialist repairs workers.
  • Manage Disrepair, damp, and Mould cases for a comprehensive understanding of property conditions.
  • Supervise Electricians in delivering legislative servicing of electrical works.
  • Optimise the Contact Centre, Planning, and Scheduling teams for efficiency and effective communication.
  • Drive the delivery of voids works, managing contractors and collaborating with Tenancy Management.
  • Ensure effective management of supplies, stores, and 24/7/365 service availability.
  • Act as a member of the Corporate Leadership Team, role modelling values, and fostering a positive organisational culture.
Responsibilities and Personal Duties:
  • Support the development, production, and delivery of strategic and operational plans for the repairs service.
  • Provide leadership, support, and motivation to staff, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and development.
  • Promote a performance management culture with emphasis on financial control and operational targets.
  • Establish quality management systems and lead third-party accreditation implementation.
  • Foster a positive health and safety culture, prioritising occupational and resident health and safety.
  • Ensure a 24/7/365 service is effectively discharged, including necessary emergency support.
  • Identify and implement management reports to ensure the repairs service achieves its targets and financial objectives.
  • Embed a customer-focused approach to continuous service improvement, responding creatively to resident needs.
  • Support tendering and procurement matters, ensuring best value partners are secured.
  • Manage income and cost budgets, ensuring the Repairs service meets trading objectives.
  • Contribute to communications and reports to various stakeholders, promoting equality and diversity.
  • Lead on health and safety matters, ensuring managers and staff are equipped to discharge responsibilities.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
  • A minimum of 3 years\' experience in repairs and maintenance, with 3 years at a head or senior role.
  • Extensive management experience, including people management, budget management, and risk management.
  • Experience in tendering and procurement of significant work streams.
  • Proven leadership skills inspiring commitment and promoting a positive organisational culture.
  • Demonstrated financial awareness, delivering efficiency\'s and controlling costs.
  • Ability to develop and deliver clear and creative strategies for change.
