Job Purpose
The Health, Safety and Environmental Lead is responsible for supporting the operations teams with implementing the safety policy and standards for the business with the end goal in keeping our employees safe and reducing accidents, as well as the environmental policy and standards. Monitoring standards on our site to establish and embed a culture of Health and Safety, and environmental awareness across the business. Demonstrate visionary leadership and strong governance, while continuously looking for opportunities to reduce accidents and improve our environmental efficiency. The Health, Safety and Environmental officer will be responsible for communicating our plans, reporting performance, and continuously increasing awareness of safety and environmental management on our Leeming Bar site.

Lead health and safety incident and accident investigations to determine root cause and define preventative and corrective action.
Assist with the reduce claims and insurance cost by actively completing risk assessment, assessing workplace hazards, reducing / eliminating risks through safe working procedure.
Support the site's response to Regulatory, Corporate and Environmental Management System audits & certifications. Ensure that adequate procedures, processes, controls, and reporting are in place to enable the business to track performance against the key health, safety and environmental metrics.
Key Performance Indicators
Reduction in number of reportable accidents on our production sites
Reduce claims and insurance cost due to incidents or accidents on our production sites
Reduce the number of Lost time injuries on our production sites
Reduce operational resource use (Emissions, Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity)
Completion of audits against agreed schedule
Completion of Fire Drills against agreed schedule
Training of people (Manual Handling, ERT, First Aid)
Behavioural Competencies and Skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Effective decision making
Ability to identify risks and prioritise tasks.
Good organisation and leadership skills
Membership with IOSH to at least Graduate Level (Grad IOSH)
Degree in Health, Safety and Environment or a related discipline
1-2 years' H&S and environmental experience working in a manufacturing environment (desirable, but not essential)
Manual Handling Instructor (Desirable, but not essential)
General Responsibilities
Responsible for Daily KPI reporting from area of responsibility.
Responsible for ensuring that all paperwork is completed accurately and legibly.
Responsible for reporting any deviations from daily plan.
Responsible for controlling WIP stock rotation.
Responsible for ensuring product quality meets or exceeds customer specification.
Reporting daily shortages of employees.
Responsible for product manufacture and quality.
Responsible for the training of direct reports
