This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Professional to join the Defence Intelligence JCG Team to oversee our portfolio of operational locations, located in the UK and overseas. Regular visits to these locations will be an essential part of your role.
We work closely alongside military service personnel, other Defence and external stakeholders to drive continual HS&EP management improvement and innovative ideas within the requirements of legislation. Job description
Risk Management:
The Safety, Health and Environment Advisor (SHEA) actively assesses potential risks in the workplace before they become serious problems, allowing for preventative measures to be implemented.
Policy Implementation:
The SHEA ensures safety policies and procedures are implemented and enforced consistently across the JCG.
Incident Investigation:
The SHEA advises on investigation processes for workplace accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
Compliance Monitoring:
The SHEA ensures the JCG adheres to all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Legislation. The SHEA supports the Units in JCG, giving the Commander assurance updates at regular intervals.
Culture Building:
The SHEA actively encourages the JCG Senior Leadership Team to promote a positive safety culture within the JCG, encouraging employees to prioritise safety.
Audit and Assurance:
The SHEA regularly audits JCG units, writes reports and provides assurance to the Commander JCG on Safety and Environmental Management processes.
Hazard Identification:
As part of the audit and assurance process, the SHEA inspects work areas across the JCG units to identify potential hazards and ensures corrective actions are taken.
Legal Protection:
By maintaining high Safety and Environmental Protection standards, the SHEA assists in minimising the risk of legal repercussions from workplace accidents.
Fire Safety:
Fire safety is an integral part of 'safety'. As such, the JCG SHEA is a conduit for fire safety information flowing between higher formations and JCG units.

Qualifications
NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent Level 6 qualification
National Qualification in Fire Safety (NEBOSH Level 3 or equivalent)
ISO:45001 Lead Auditor qualified
IEMA (or equivalent) Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management
Memberships
Minimum Technical Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) (Tech IOSH)

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
