IDS Transport (UK) Limited are market leaders in storage & distribution of fresh produce across the UK.



We currently have a Health and Safety Officer position available to work in our fast paced distribution operation where we collect, cross dock and distribute fresh fruit and vegetables, based in Honeybourne near Evesham.



Logistics & Warehouse Environment



We are looking for a proactive and practical Health & Safety Officer to support safe working practices across our warehouse, workshop and office operations. This role suits someone who enjoys being on site, working closely with operational teams, and applying Health & Safety in a way that genuinely supports a busy logistics environment.

This is a

part-time position (3 days per week)

, with

flexible hours available

to align with operational requirements.

Main Duties



You will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving Health & Safety standards across the business. Key responsibilities include: Managing and updating all Health & Safety documentation, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, risk registers, DSE assessments, and incident reporting processes. Developing and reviewing Safe Systems of Work to ensure they accurately reflect operational activities and risks. Ensuring accidents, incidents, and near misses are logged, investigated, and followed up with appropriate corrective actions. Leading investigations into Health & Safety incidents, identifying root causes and preventative measures. Carrying out regular site and warehouse inspections, including racking checks, and coordinating any required remedial works. Delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings on relevant topics to warehouse and office teams. Completing Health & Safety inductions for new starters, contractors, and visitors. Providing guidance and training on manual handling, risk awareness, and safe working practices. Supporting and coordinating training on machinery and equipment to ensure safe use. Maintaining accurate training and competency records, ensuring refresher training is completed where required. Ensuring contractors and visitors receive suitable Health & Safety information and are inducted where necessary. Coordinating Health & Safety roles such as First Aiders, Fire Marshals, and MHE operators, ensuring certification remains current. Managing routine Health & Safety checks and compliance activities, including fire alarm tests, fire drills, and maintaining registers. Supporting Company Health & Safety reporting requirements, audits, and follow-up actions, ensuring lessons learned are implemented. Keeping up to date with relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and ensuring site compliance (HASAWA, COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR, LOLER, etc.). Producing Health & Safety reports, statistics, and updates for the Directors as required. Actively promoting a positive and practical safety culture throughout the business.

Personal Specification



We are looking for someone who brings:

Experience in a Health & Safety role within a logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing setting. A hands-on, pragmatic approach, with the confidence to apply Health & Safety in a real-world operational environment. A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent. Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements. Experience completing risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations. The ability to deliver clear, engaging Health & Safety training and toolbox talks. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels. A structured and organised approach, with strong attention to detail. The ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and make best use of part-time hours.
