Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Healthy Living Centre Manager to coordinate and develop our Healthy Living Centre services and the delivery of Inner and Wider South Belfast health improvement initiatives.

About LORAG



LORAG is an award-winning community development organisation founded in 1987 to support the residents and community of the Lower Ormeau area. LORAG has managed SCR HLC, a council owned facility, since 2000, successfully developing and delivering the Centre Health and Wellbeing services to the local and wide communities.

LORAG is a member of the ISBNP, serving as chairperson for the partnership Health and Educational and Young People's Subgroups.

Main Function



The Manager will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Health improvement programmes from within SCR HLC, providing management for the various staff teams and strategic direction for related services, as well as representing LORAG and ISBNP within the HLCA, in seeking to further develop, community-led health improvement initiatives available to the wider membership.

Main Duties & Responsibilities



Operational Development



Manage the day-to-day delivery of Health improvement programmes ensuring high quality and standard of delivery.

Promote good communication at all levels of the organisation.

Provide leadership, line management to and appraise the performance of all health-related staff.

Ensure that opportunities for development are made available.

In conjunction with the ISHLP and other health promotion agencies, facilitate and develop an Annual Operational Plan for the implementation of agreed health programmes in the Inner South Belfast area.

Develop and oversee a marketing strategy for the promotion of the programmes, activities and events.

Strategic Development



Oversee the strategic development of our Healthy Living Centre, the Inner South Healthy Living Partnership and represent each on the wider Healthy Living Centre Alliance.

Develop and maintain sound professional relationships with the Public Health Agency , Belfast Health Development Unit, National Lottery Fund and other key stakeholders to effect policy change in favour of health improvement initiatives for Inner and wider South Belfast.

Develop the key social economy aspects of the Healthy Living Centre to enhance sustainability,

Establish the Healthy Living Centre and the ISHLP as an accredited training provider.

Represent the Healthy Living Centre and ISBHP in the media and at public events.

Corporate Functions and Governance



Provide written reports to the monthly meetings of the LORAG Board of Directors and plus any other meetings deemed necessary

In conjunction with the LORAG Finance and Employment Subgroup, lead in the recruitment, appointment and induction of all Healthy Living Centre and ISHLP project staff as well as providing terms and conditions of employment.

Ensure that the Centre and programme policies and procedures, including the Staff Handbook, are up to date and implemented.

Ensure that efficient and effective administrative procedures are implemented in relation to financial and other governance matters in accordance with current legislation.

Ensure Health and Safety at Work procedures are in place and maintained providing a safe working environment for all project staff.

Standard Duties



Ensure effective control of attendance at all relevant events and programmes.

Take such action as may be deemed necessary in grievance and disciplinary matters in accordance with approved policy and procedures.

Attend appropriate training and events to keep up to date with relevant developments, policy and good management practices.

Create and maintain good working relations with all partners, HLCA Directors and staff, fellow employees and clients.

Provide positive leadership and motivation for all relevant staff

Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the LORAG Board of Directors within the scope of the post.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 41,511.00-44,711.00 per year

18 Months full time experience of working in the field of health and
or community development at a senior level
OR
Three years full time experience working in the field of health and
