We're looking for a brilliant organiser to lead a hands-on project restoring Gloucestershire's hedgerows -- those leafy, wildlife-rich boundaries that shape our countryside.
This 6.5-month role is part of the national
CPRE Hedgerow Heroes
programme. You'll plan and run planting events, recruit volunteers, and connect with schools and community groups to bring hedgerows back to life.
You don't need to be a conservation expert -- if you're great at managing projects, love working with people, and don't mind getting muddy, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be supported by our friendly team with admin and communications, but you'll take the lead on delivery. A car is essential for transporting tools and plants (we'll cover travel costs).
What You'll Do
Community & Communications
Build a contact list of volunteers and local partners
Work with landowners to find planting sites
Reach out to schools, parishes, and community groups
Share updates on social media and in newsletters
Write short monthly reports for funders
Planning & Delivery
Create simple planting and care guidelines
Plan and schedule hedge-laying and planting days
Manage the project budget
Order tools, plants, and materials
Lead planting days with volunteers and trainers
What We're Looking For
Essential
Experience running community or environmental projects
Strong organisational and communication skills
Able to work independently and lead volunteers
Access to a car and happy to travel
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
Desirable
Interest in nature and local landscapes
Experience with social media or publicity
Confidence managing budgets and writing reports
What You'll Get
Salary: Up to 17,411 for 6.5 months (FTE 32,136/year)
Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee contributions
Holiday: 14 days (2.8 weeks)
