Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills? Are you a team worker with the ability to use your own initiative? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HEO Environmental Protection and Climate Change and Sustainability Coordinator to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff working within DMS Whittington.


The vacant post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.

Strategic Command Transformation




Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command's transformation programme is committed to following the MOD's framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command's personnel and Trade Unions.

Job description




To act as the Central Focal Point within the Headquarters Defence Medical Services High Level Budget (HQ DMS HLB) for providing competent advice and guidance to senior managers on safety, health environmental protection and for reporting to the Board on Health Safety & Environmental Protection (HS&EP) performance.

Person specification




Main details of the role include but are not limited to:

Review and update the HQ DMS Environmental Protection (EP) guidance in line with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and United Kingdom Strategic Command (UKStratCom) policy, including Acquisition Safety Policy within the High Level Budget (HLB). Responsible for monitoring and escalating impending EP risks to HLB lead before becoming issues where possible. Responsible for creating and maintaining the HLB Environmental Management System (EMS) by seeking out and confirming appropriate focal points for all stakeholders that operate on each Base Level Budget (BLB site). They must also support BLB that conduct a review of the site EMS on an annual basis. To Champion and Lead Climate Change and Sustainability (CC&S). You will work alongside the Top-Level Budget (TLB) CC&S Team to support the HLB Lead to cohere and deliver real changes in achieving MOD's Net Zero and Greening Government Commitments (GGC). Attend Top Level Budget (TLB) CC&S Working Group Meetings as a representative of the HLB to provide updates, highlight and issues, risks etc and working to provide mitigations where possible.
