UCL at Here East is a collaborative initiative led by world leading departments within UCL's Faculties of the Built Environment and Engineering Sciences. It brings together students, researchers and industry partners to enable cross-faculty and cross-disciplinary teaching and research, supported by world-class studios, workshops and laboratories. This role sits within the Faculty Operations Team, delivering strategic operational leadership for The Bartlett and ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for staff, students and partners based at UCL at Here East
About the Role

The Here East Operations Manager plays a central role in ensuring the smooth running of this unique and highly collaborative environment, across the faculties. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the building, support academic activity, and work closely with departments, Estates, and external partners to enable teaching, research and public engagement events. The successful candidate will lead the local Facilities and Operations team, ensuring excellent customer service and efficient coordination across departments. The role involves managing budgets, supporting large-scale events and degree shows, overseeing space planning and resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements. The Here East Operations Manager will also maintain strong relationships with the Here East landlord team and UCL Estates to ensure high-quality building services, security and maintenance. This is a highly visible and varied role, requiring initiative, strong communication skills, and the ability to foster collaborative working across a diverse academic community. This post is available from February 2026 - April 2027. Please note the Interview date for this role is week commencing 5th January 2026 via MS Teams.
About You
-------------
You will be an experienced operations or facilities manager, ideally with experience of working in a large, complex organisation such as Higher Education. The role requires strong organisational and project management skills, experience of managing budgets, and a track record of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Confidence in Line managing, coordinating services, and responding flexibly to operational demands is key. Excellent communication, diplomacy and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive working relationships, support collaboration and maintain a high-quality service environment. You will also have experience of managing service contracts (e.g. cleaning, waste or security) and an understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
