Job Summary


Bridge Cottage is a central feature in the town and is a timber-framed building, built around 1436. It is managed by Uckfield Heritage, a registered charity.

The post-holder will be responsible for organising all aspects of this appealing building. They will bring a creative approach to promoting it to all interested parties finding innovative ways to achieve the aims of Uckfield Heritage, ensuring the preservation of this historic building through appropriate use. The nature of the role will necessitate some evening and weekend working within the full time hours. It is initially a one year fixed term contract but it is hoped to extend this if the role is successful.

We are looking for a charismatic and enthusiastic person, who has an interest in heritage and a desire to build on the current activities at Bridge Cottage Heritage Centre.

Responsibilities



Be responsible for the running of the Heritage Centre ensuring effective and efficient operation of all aspects including room bookings, the Heritage Hub archive, maintenance, security and Health and Safety. Be responsible for managing the team of volunteers, including supervision, deployment, recruitment, training and development. Be responsible for the accurate management of and reporting on any allocated budget. Be responsible for event management maximising income generation opportunities for the Heritage Centre, and pursue any additional funding streams, including a regular programme of events and room hire. Exploit the resources of the Heritage Centre to promote our collections, available resources and expertise. Make effective use of technology, including website and social media, to support the aims of Uckfield Heritage. Oversee the management of the Uckfield Heritage archive including recording on eHive. Assist with the general administration and promotion of Uckfield Heritage. Undertake any other duties that maybe required, appropriate to the grade and designation of the post.

Requirements



Skills



Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills. Effective communication and stakeholder relationship skills. Successful management of finances and good budget control. Self-motivated, to be able to work confidently on own initiative. Pro-active - anticipate problems and show initiative for problem solving and generating new ideas. Entrepreneurial approach to ensure maximum value to the organisation from all activities. Excellent IT skills including expertise in relevant software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Word Press and eHive.

Experience



Experience of working with the public with high levels of customer care. Experience of recruiting, training and working with volunteers. Experience of partnership working or working collaboratively to achieve results. Experience of organising, marketing and developing events and promotional opportunities.

Personal Qualities



Likes to work as part of a small team whilst being able to work on their own. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. Enthusiasm, persistence and patience.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: From 23,132.00 per year
