Ferguson Transport & Shipping, established in 1959, is the largest general haulage business in the West Highlands of Scotland.

We are looking for an HGV Trainer to support the Transport Managers and lead on the delivery of inhouse training to qualified C+E HGV Drivers; apprentice HGV drivers and Shunter Drivers. Trainer training is available for the successful candidate.

Previous experience in a training role is preferred, however the opportunity may also suit an experienced Class 1 Driver who wants to further a career in the industry as a Driver Trainer.

Ferguson Transport & Shipping employs c160 staff, of which c50 are HGV Drivers. The company's Head Office, Logistics Hub and vehicle maintenance facility is located in Corpach, Fort William.

Our Class 1 drivers are typically full time tramping drivers working in the UK; out of hub locations in Grangemouth, Methil, Inverness, Invergordon, Fort William and Mallaig.

Driver and Transport Office staff training is generally carried out at our Logistics Hub in Fort William, however travel to our various driver hubs will occasionally be required to fulfil the needs of the role; with use of a company car for business use.

The role is Ideally suited to a full time candidate however; part-time candidates are invited to apply.

About you:

LGV C+E licence is requried Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in national Road Haulage Operations is preferred however, training support is available Knowledge of MS Office; particularly Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Confident, professional manner; Strong organisational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent attention to detail

Main Responsibilities (list not exhaustive):

Supporting the Transport Managers/Directors with the delivery of on-the-road and in-house driver training. Developing and building Driver competence to improve driving technique, fuel efficiency and accident reduction rates. Keep up to date with DVSA working practices, including Earned Recognition Work alongside HR and the Transport Managers to recruit Drivers Support the inhouse EU & RT WTD Analyst with tachograph analysis and managing driver's hours. Develop internal training programmes to suit individual progression plans and the needs of the business - including HGV driver training, forklift, plant and machinery
