Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our team in Wigan. This position is primarily mobile, working out of a fully equipped van to provide on-site maintenance and repair services for heavy goods vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, proficiency in HGV repairs, and the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality service directly to our customers.

Duties

Conduct on-site routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards. Diagnose faults using schematics and technical manuals, determining necessary repairs directly at the customer's location. Fabricate and assemble parts as required, using hand tools and welding equipment on the go. Perform repairs on equipment and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance of the vehicle. Safely operate forklifts when needed to move parts or vehicles, both in the workshop and on customer premises as required. Maintain accurate records of all completed work and parts used for each vehicle serviced. Provide excellent customer service, effectively communicating with clients about their vehicle needs on-site.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with HGV maintenance and repair. Proficiency in fabricating and assembling parts for various vehicle systems. Ability to interpret schematics and diagnose electrical faults for quick troubleshooting. Skilled in using hand tools and welding equipment for on-the-spot repairs. Excellent customer service skills, with a professional approach when interacting with clients. Ability to work independently, managing a mobile workload across different locations.
