Homefield Primary School and SSC is a new Primary school established in September 2024, and is the amalgamation of two very good schools. Whilst we are waiting for our new build, we are operating across 2 sites - the Lower school site on Lyndhurst Road and the Upper school site on Chesswood Road.
The school team is dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience for the learners in our care. We have high aspirations for all our children, both academically and socially. What You Need to Succeed
We are seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for 2 days per week. Initially this will mostly be based on the Lower school site. We are looking for a flexible and resilient person who has a good understanding of how young children learn and can adapt learning for all our learners. HLTA work may include PPA cover, illness cover and some intervention work.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Good organisational skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils and adults
Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of all pupils
Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs
Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to the role, and ability to apply this effectively in supporting teachers and pupils
Excellent verbal communication skills
Active listening skills
The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning
Understanding of roles and responsibilities within the classroom and whole school context
Understanding of effective teaching methods
Knowledge of how to successfully lead learning activities for a group or class of children
Knowledge of how statutory and non-statutory frameworks for the school curriculum relate to the age and ability ranges of the learners they support
