We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. The HLTA will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, by primarily providing PPA cover on a Tuesday afternoon for all classes.
There may also be an opportunity to cover additional classes at short notice if a teacher is out on training or away unwell. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to make a significant impact on the educational outcomes and well-being of our students.
What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role you will need to:
Delivering lessons, devised from planning, shared by the class teacher/SLT, to meet the needs of a class
Discussing with class teachers their expectations and working together to make decisions and follow a unified approach
Being clear on intended learning outcomes and specifying how they will be taught and assessed
Setting tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest
Setting appropriate and demanding expectations
Identifying the needs of pupils and planning appropriately, including personalising learning to meet individual needs
Providing clear structures for lessons to maintain pace, motivation and challenge
Making effective use of assessment and use formative assessment, feedback and marking to shape teaching and interventions
Using a variety of teaching methods and strategies to facilitate effective learning
Ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of additional adults
Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school's policies and encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework
Demonstrate enthusiasm and energy to create and maintain a learning climate which is positive and motivating
Encouraging pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self-control and independence, concentrate and persevere and listen attentively
Evaluating own teaching critically to improve effectiveness
Attending CPD, as required
Being flexible and prepared to teach any class or age range, if required
To contribute to and support the ethos of the school.
