Hindu Chaplain

Bristol, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The role

------------

We are excited to expand our team of Chaplains and seek a Hindu Chaplain to join us.

The Multifaith Chaplaincy is an open and welcoming community hub where students and staff are welcome to simply 'be', no matter what faith, culture or background. We offer lunchtime social events; opportunities for interfaith dialogue and understanding; space to relax, study and recharge from university life; and pastoral and spiritual support for staff and students in the University community.

The Chaplaincy team includes Chaplains from diverse faith traditions. We work in partnership with other student-facing services including Student Inclusion, Global Lounge, and Student Communities teams.

The Multifaith Chaplaincy is committed to being a welcoming, warm and joyful place to work, reflecting the diversity of the University community and offering inclusive, personalised pastoral and spiritual support. As a team we are genuinely passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion; it forms a key thread through all the work we do.

There are seven hours available. These would ideally worked in a single day each week.

What will you be doing?

---------------------------

The Hindu Chaplain will provide spiritual and pastoral care to students and staff of their own faith tradition, as well as people of other faiths and none. This is delivered through group and 1:1 work with staff and students, including a weekly duty slot when the Chaplain will respond to any students requesting support on a drop-in basis in the Multifaith Chaplaincy centre.

The postholder will contribute to the team's programme of community building events and activities, contributing to interfaith work with students and staff from all faiths and none. This involves an ongoing commitment to learning about and understanding other faiths and beliefs, building positive working relationships with faith communities and with other members of the Multifaith Chaplaincy team, sharing their own faith as appropriate.

You should apply if

-----------------------

You are passionate about creating a culture and environment where Hindu students feel welcome, supported, able to thrive at the University, and enjoy engaging with people from different faiths and cultures. You enjoy working in a diverse team where collaboration, inclusion, learning together, and engaging in interfaith dialogue are central to the ethos of how we work. You have relevant experience in role/s focused on community-building, spiritual or pastoral support.
We invite you to attend a JOIN US! Session to find out more about the role, the team, and about applying to work at the University.

The sessions will take place as follows - please contact Ed Davis to book a place.

6-7pm Monday 12 May online 6-7pm Wednesday 14 May at the Multifaith Chaplaincy, 1 Woodland Road, Bristol, BS8 1TB
