About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused
Hire Desk Controller
to join our team. Based at our busy depot, you will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day hire desk operations run smoothly while delivering an outstanding level of service to our clients. You will assist customers with tool and plant hire requirements, maintain equipment availability, and coordinate with workshop and depot staff to ensure all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a busy hire desk, responding to customer enquiries via phone, email, and in person.
Understand client requirements and recommend suitable tool and plant hire solutions.
Accurately book equipment in and out using our digital hire system.
Process hire contracts and associated documentation in line with company procedures.
Ensure the day-to-day hire desk operations run efficiently and professionally.
Liaise closely with the workshop team to confirm daily equipment availability.
Maintain appropriate showroom stock levels of consumables and keep the area tidy and presentable.
Raise quotes, input orders, arrange deliveries/collections, and maintain accurate records.
Ensure all customer queries are resolved promptly and to a high standard.
Report any customer feedback or operational issues to the Depot Operations Manager.
Support wider depot operations as required.
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within tool or plant hire.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
A proactive, customer-first mindset with attention to detail.
Competence in Outlook, Word, Excel, and hire management systems (training available).
A reliable team player who takes pride in their work.
