Action Housing and Support is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees, volunteers, and agency workers to share this commitment.
At Action Housing and Support, we're passionate about creating opportunities for people facing homelessness, disadvantage, and complex challenges. We're proud to be a trauma-informed organisation that puts people at the heart of everything we do -- and right now, we're looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive individual to join our HiRO (High Risk Offenders) Sustainable Tenancy Project as a Support Worker.
About the Role
This isn't just a job -- it's an opportunity to help some of the most marginalised individuals in our communities take meaningful steps toward rehabilitation, safety, and independence.
Based across Derby and Derbyshire, you'll support adults with a history of offending behaviours, including those managed under RSO (Registered Sex Offender) and VIO (Violent and Intimidating Offender) frameworks. Many clients are also dealing with issues such as mental ill health, substance misuse, and homelessness.
You'll manage a caseload of individuals living in supported housing, helping them build the skills, confidence, and routines they need to maintain tenancies and reintegrate safely into the wider community. Your work will focus on:
Encouraging positive, long-term behavioural change
Supporting people to develop independent living skills
Reducing reoffending and promoting community safety
Keeping detailed, accurate records that demonstrate impact
Why this role matters
The HiRO Project supports 40 individuals, including "ring-fenced" bedspaces for female clients who may be both victims and offenders, and others at high risk of reoffending. Many are managed under MAPPA or IOM frameworks and present with complex support needs. You'll play a vital role in reducing harm, strengthening multi-agency partnerships, and helping people build a future with dignity and stability.
