The Role

Cranbrook School is on the lookout for an enthusiastic, reliable, and skilled Hockey Coach to enhance our Saturday Hockey programme. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing our teams, ensuring that all pupils not only enjoy their sport but also represent the school with pride and perform to their utmost potential.

You will accompany teams to fixtures, coach from the sidelines, provide constructive feedback, and uphold the school's esteemed standards of behaviour and sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Coach and support teams during Saturday fixtures. Conduct structured warm-ups and pre-match preparations. Umpire Hockey matches in accordance with relevant rules and regulations. Provide feedback and encouragement to players to assist in skill development. Collaborate effectively with the Head of Hockey and other staff members. Manage pupil conduct, ensuring behaviour and sportsmanship align with school values. Respond appropriately to injuries and incidents during matches. Represent the school positively in interactions with other schools and officials.

Personal Specification

Essential:

In-depth knowledge of Hockey rules, tactics, and coaching principles. Confidence in umpiring school-level fixtures. Outstanding communication and organisational skills. Ability to motivate and manage young individuals positively. A calm, professional demeanour in managing behaviour and competition. Capability to drive a minibus.

Desirable:

Hockey coaching or umpiring qualifications. Prior experience coaching or officiating at school or club level. Safeguarding training. First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete one).

Hours & Pay

Saturdays during term time (typically mornings/early afternoons). Attractive hourly rate, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
